The local area is teaming with history and hidden treasures including a Templar Church, Roman amphitheatres, traditional French Châteaux, markets selling local produce and crafts and various flea markets.

Half an hour away is beautiful Jarnac, the home of many major cognac houses including Corvoisier and Hine - take a guided cruise to see these from the Charente River. Visit in November and you can smell the cognac in the air!

There is an international hot air balloon festival in August, which is a grand attraction for visitors and locals. The balloons can be seen from the house and often land in the adjacent fields. After the event there is a traditional Charentais supper with local dishes and fine wines - dancing follows and the evening ends with a spectacular firework display.
